This is a list of life bills tracked through Legislative Journals and how a legislator voted. Some of the candidates running in the election may not have been in office at the time. If a “yes” is indicated, the vote supports the legislation (and would align with IRTL’s position). A “no” is a vote against the legislation for individual reasons, and “nv” means there is no vote recorded from the legislator on that particular bill.

If it is a Federal level candidate, you may search voting records by going to Congress.gov | Library of Congress and searching key words, locating the bill, and then narrowing down your criteria to see how a candidate voted. 1. In 2022, the Iowa Supreme Court overturned a previous ruling and decided there is no "fundamental right" to abortion in the Iowa constitution. Additionally, the landmark ruling in the Dobbs v. Jackson Supreme Court ruling which overturned Roe v. Wade, stated the “the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives.” Would you vote against any legislation that would weaken Iowa’s existing pro-life policy? 2. Do you support an act relating to the Iowa Human Life Protection Act (Life at Conception) that would acknowledge all human beings are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, the foremost of which is a right to life, beginning at conception? No

Remarks: Question 11, 12, and 13: It would depend on the legislation and how it is worded. Personally, I think sex education should be taught in the home. Parents are expected to talk to their kids about drugs, under age alcohol and tobacco use. I see it on billboards all the time. I have yet to see a billboard urging parents to talk to kids about having sex, while still in school. Question 13: I am open to such legislation, but do not want to outlaw "Do Not Resuscitate/DNR" or similar directives at the same time.
