Every August, Iowa’s largest parade kicks off Iowa’s largest summer celebration, the Iowa State Fair. The parade is held the evening before the Iowa State Fair opens. Thousands gather to watch an estimated 200 entries in the parade as they stroll through downtown Des Moines. From high school marching bands, floats, animals, cool cars, dignitaries, performing units and special causes. The parade is broadcast live on Iowa PBS starting at 6:15 p.m.

The cheering, clapping and thumbs up for LIFE during the parade are growing in number and in volume each year. To experience the encouragement and fun, and to be an Ambassador for Life, put it on your calendar to join us next year in the Iowa State Fair Parade!
