DES MOINES—March 30, 2010—Iowa Right to Life has gone beyond baby steps in its annual Spring Book Sale. The four-day sale, which ran from March 23 to March 27, brought in $43,000! Proceeds will go to pregnancy centers and adoption agencies across Iowa to assist women in need with their pregnancies.

People were lined up outside the 7-Flags Events Center on the opening day of the sale. $30,000 was raised in the first two days alone.

"In tough economic times, young women are under so much pressure to abort," said Rhonda Phillips, Iowa Right to Life's Book Sale Coordinator. "We are excited that IRTL was able to raise so much from the Book Sale to support Iowa's Pregnancy Centers in assisting women in need."

Iowa Right to Life would like to thank all the people who donated books and the tireless volunteers who ran book drives, sorted books, worked at the book sale and helped set-up and tear-down of the sale.

Spring Cleaning: Donate the Books Cluttering Your Shelves

If you are doing some Spring Cleaning, donate your books and other items for Iowa Right to Life’s Fall Book Sale.

We are looking for books of all kinds, for all ages, Christian or non-Christian, hard or soft cover, new or used in good condition. We are also looking for:

CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and Books on Tape
Sheet music and/or music books
Rare and/or Collectible books
Collectible Comic Books
Cookbooks except Microwave type
Home School materials
Text Books year 2007 or newer
Magazines only to include craft, quilting, sewing or cooking types or rare and collectible.

Donate Time Sorting Books

Would you like to give an hour or two a week to sort books? This is something most people can do to in their spare time to help pregnant women. Retired men and women enjoy this quiet, easy work. It is also a great way for young people to complete their services hours for school or religious education.
