As a fiscal conservative, Kent believes government spending is out of control. The state has accelerated spending by a billion dollars over the last two years. That equates to over a million dollars more per day. Kent will fight to get this under control, NOT by raising taxes, which squelches entrepreneurship, but by limiting government spending and lowering taxes, which stimulates our economy.

Kent is pro-education; he believes we need to return to

our policies that were successful twenty years ago when Iowa was number one in the country.  He believes the way to do that is by keeping parents involved, supporting the effective educators, and control at the local district level through the school boards that we elect.

Kent is a strong supporter of family values. We are living in trying times when others want to redefine the family. Kent believes that marriage is between one man and one woman. He believes in the sanctity of human life and that life starts at conception. He believes in parental rights whether it is in education or notification before a medical procedure. It is the responsibility of parents to raise children and not the state. Strong families are the key to a strong state.
