Free Birth Control? The hidden cost
Painful cramping, bleeding and anemia – is that what you had in mind when you took the offer for free birth control?
These are some of the common side effects of an IUD or Interuterine Device.
The Truth About IUDs
How about having pelvic inflammatory disease, your uterus perforated, damage to your other internal organs, an ectopic pregnancy or not being able to have children in the future? These are the more serious risks of IUDs.
What is an IUD? It’s a T-shaped device that must be inserted into your uterus in a doctor’s office. The IUD releases active chemicals, such as progestin or copper into your system. Yeah, copper. And you were worried about the fat content in that bag of potato chips.
If the IUD moves out of place, you may have to have surgery to have it removed. Are you ready for surgery?
With an IUD, it is still possible for you to conceive a child, but the IUD will cause your uterine lining to harden or become irritated so the child cannot implant and is expelled. That’s called an abortion.
If that’s not what you signed up for, then don’t get an IUD. You are worth way more than that.
Weight gain, acne, headaches, nausea, mood swings, anxiety, and irregular menstrual periods – is that what you had in mind when you took the offer for free birth control?
These are some of the common side effects of the birth control Implanon.
The Truth About Implanon
How about having blood clots in your legs and/or lungs, vision problems, dark spots on your skin around your face, scar tissue on your arm, strokes or heart attacks?
These are the more serious risks of Implanon.
What is an Implanon? It is a plastic-rod that a doctor surgically implants under the skin of your arm that releases a synthetic hormone into your body. If you don’t like Implanon, you need to have another surgical procedure to have it removed. The hormone thickens your cervical mucus to try and prevent the egg and sperm from meeting. If this doesn’t work, you can still conceive a child, but the hormone will cause your uterine lining to harden or become irritated so the child cannot implant and is expelled. That’s called an abortion.
If that’s not what you signed up for, then don’t get implanted with Implanon. You are worth way more than that.
